Servant Leadership is to inspire and equip those we influence. Give people the resources they need and then get out of the way. Let people follow their passion and give th support to do great things for the community. A servant leader is someone who helps people grow. Power is not what we should be seeking, it's to help people get where they want to go.
So, like I said, interesting stuff, but this dude is a bit preachy. Seems more like a new age speaker or something.
And did I mention that the person next to me is eating some weird candy that totally stinks and I'm wedged in so I can't escape. Plus, in hungry but I think my breakfast is in a little paper bag that's noisy. UGH. But, cool children's librarian from Brooklyn PL sitting on the other side. Talked to her about the PALs. Look out for her at the booth!
Sounds like a very "blue" leadership style.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good way to put it. i also went to the program and like the part about trust. This company polls their employees every six minths on trust of management. That sounds like alot of work but trust levels hover around 85%.
ReplyDeleteWhat happens when trust falls to and unacceptable level?
