P&R watchers will know that tv Parks and Rec Director Ron Swanson hates libraries and librarians. His real name is Nick Offerman and he's a totally cool, funny, smart actor who gave the greatest apology to librarians of all time. He said we are the most important of people. We're like pot dealers (bear with me, this is San Francisco!), and are the keepers of the most powerful and dangerous dispensaries around. He knows we keep "the good stuff" in the back and available only to special customers. His good stuff refers to authors like Wendall Berry, and biographies of people like Teddy Roosevelt, George Washington, Yoko Ono, and an assortment of other personal heroes he highlights in his new book. Offerman is a true lover of libraries and comes from a family of librarians, hence giving him food for a really inspirational and funny talk that had about 600 librarians eating out of his hands.
