Panel consisted of 4 staff from Seattle Public Library. They identified 4 major issues - reimagining spaces, youth and family learning, Seattle culture and learning, technology and access, and Community engagement as their main priorities.
In response to a question about how a rural library could implement the strategies of community engagement , Seatlle staff stressed that these priorities were specific to their communities needs and that these may not apply to other libraries, basically - you need to conduct your research and outreach efforts to fit your own community.
Practical information - need to serve marginalized communities, solicit patron feedback, do outreach, utilize social media and public programming to engage your communities.
Partnerships with community colleges, Spanish Facebook site, Super Bowl viewing parties, and Pop Up library visits were examples of bringing people together and fostering deeper community connections.
