(we need to check interactivity / quality) showed mostly app trailers, cute, but would need to test
* David Weisner (yes Caldecott) - Book App "Spot"
* "Loose Strands" - novel where you choose what happens next
* "Incredible Numbers" (Middle and High School) - by Prof. Ian Stewart - 23 articles, 71 interactive demonstrations - topics such as breaking codes, pi, how numbers work in nature
* "The Un-Stealer" - teaches the meaning of "un"
Joyce - content creation
* Adobe voice - narrate a story after bringing in images, or for a camera roll (goes through creative commons images and sites on last slides), images done by designers, adapted, creates story structure, idea - have students send stories, use for foreign language, great for process of an art process, take picture sin stories
* Buncee- beautiful digital stories, for young children, use for invitations, communicating w/ parents, buncee bits a separate apps allows kids to make cards
* Glogster - web based poster tool, drag and drop, examples available on their as templates and starters, learning by explorations and emotions,
*Lego motion movie maker - not just for legos - take 100's of photos of anything to put it together to make a movie (funny video of cats with boxing gloves), can do app smashing - take photos with green screen bring into another app and change the background
* Floors - download in print (graph paper and codes) combine 14 elements to combine and create an animated game, sent into a gallery of world games, or 5 day curriculum and use in a maker space (critical thinking and brain storming), can do game competitions

- Kahoot - students use a quiz code, teacher controls pace of kahoot quiz
- Remind - can send reminders, assignments, motivational messages to parents and students phones, attachments, videos, can schedule stuff ahead of time, messaging safe b/c numbers kept private, can be sent to individuals and groups, chat can be limited to office hours, sms allows parents to receive emails
- seesaw - digital portfolio (as young as five) - can organize content by subject, conference, self reflection, content can be accessed everywhere
- skitch (from evernote)- free app, communicate visually, mark up and edit images, text (maps, photos)
- spiderscribe jr. - mind mapping, notes, images, free form maps
social science-
- Amazing World Atlas - by lonely planet, flag, capitol information, interactive world geography elementary and up
- Ripped apart - by smithsonian institute - primary documents
- think like churchhill - see events through churchill's eyes, includes 6 pivotal events, comic book lifestyle, end of each story reader's weigh options, users get feedback based on what selected, circle around person / object will reveal more info.
- touch van gough - multilayer art history app, location, history, style and composition of painting, primary sources (like letters to brother), and rubbing screen will reveal some hidden art and recycled canvases, also how conservaters preserve art
STEM apps -
Need to show model inquiry, develop students sense of wonder and exploration, in a fun immersive experience
*ALgodoo - create own challenges (upper elementary, middle, high school), use videos to teach you and figure out what to do, encourages students to explore
*Ibiome wetland (upper elementary and middle) - build bio domes, learn food webs and interaction species and animals, game like structure, games enriches learning environment, trial and error, goal is build an optimum environment for both plants and animals, students are rewarded with badges, (3-7th reading), teaches about eco-sysytms and balance
*My incredible body - can click on and select different body systems
* World Wildlife together (WW together) - as young as 3rd grade, up to middle school, endangered species, photographs, videos, facts (looks like a powerpoint), pre-learning exercise in their wonder and exploration phase, use it as a note taking exercise teach about digital forms
* Motion math educator suite - suite of apps, hungry fish targets math (first grade) get bubbles of different numbers to equal a certain number, zoom is math, hungry fish seems like best for library (others require tablet movement), there's also math pizza game
- DPLA - app - 75th app recommendation, brings together collections from libraries across the country
Grumbly comment - tons of people coming in late to sessions (how rude!) and expect people to move - crazy!
